Principal Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus has reiterated the government’s strong commitment to counter-terrorism and announced that no terrorist group will be allowed to operate in Bangladesh.

The Principal Advisor said, “The fight against terrorism is our top priority. Our position on terrorism is zero tolerance. We will use all our strength to eradicate terrorists from our soil.” He made these remarks when US Charge d’Affaires in Dhaka, Tracy Anne Jacobson, met the Principal Advisor at the Jamuna State Guest House on Monday afternoon.
During the 40-minute meeting, they discussed matters of mutual interest, including ongoing tariff negotiations between Bangladesh and the United States.
Charge d’Affaires Jacobson reiterated her government’s support for Bangladesh’s reform efforts and democratic transformation, which is expected to culminate in national elections early next year.
The Chief Advisor also highlighted the progress of the commission in its work towards building a national consensus, which is striving to build unity among political parties on key reforms.
The Chief Advisor added, “I believe the commission is doing a very good job. The members are working hard under the leadership of Professor Ali Riaz.”
